The Importance of Being Critical

Critical thinking is rational thinking. A rational society is a developed society. In the history, scholars have preached the importance of critical thinking for the development of human beings and the society.

Victory University (VU) considers developing such rationally developed society and developing the humankind, as its main objective of existence. The University runs this cause through a mission called Fulfilling the Promise. VU has started this initiative to emphasize the importance of critical thinking for its students. This realization must be appreciated as a major breakthrough in the history of any Universities. At times, when tests and grading systems are gaining importance to “produce” students from educational institutions, VU has made it a point to recognize the thought process to “evolve” students.

Apart from the classroom education, the whole campus will be enabled with resources to emphasize and educate students on critical thinking. The resources include Student Success Center where tutors are designated to help students in their writing using critical thinking, library that offers information on critical thinking, etc.

Effects of Critical Thinking in a Student’s Life

The role of critical thinking in a student’s life is crucial not only in school but also throughout his or her career. It enables a student to make better decisions on issues encountered during the school life. This helps them to prevent or solve problems that may arise due to different circumstances inside the campus.

Critical thinking enables a student to analyze and evaluate ideas and thus, helps a student to make wise decisions based on the consequences. Due to this, the decision making skill is naturally getting developed in a student. This ability is crucial for a student when he or she joins an organization for work after graduation.
