Job satisfaction is the top priority for employees at workplace, reveals a survey conducted by the Commercial Appeal, a daily newspaper of Memphis, Tennessee.
In a recent show of “An Education That Works”, Kenneth Kinney of Victory University had a chat with the in-guests, including James Dowd of the Commercial Appeal and Nancy Crawford of the Better Business Bureau of the Mid-South.

Job satisfaction and Job Security, Top Priorities
James Dowd of the Commercial Appeal shared some of the results of this survey conducted by the Commercial Appeal in the local Memphis area. The survey was carried out to find out what employees of Memphis love most about their work place. Almost 70,000 employees across the region took part in the survey and gave their comments.

Surprisingly, the top two reasons were job satisfaction and job security. Employees voted most for opportunities available at the work place to use their skills and abilities obtained through education and training. Another surprise result was that the employees gave fourth priority, in order, to money. Money, hence, surprisingly, was not amongst the top priorities for most of the employees of the local Memphis area.

This result reveals that people want to work where they get the job security and where their work is appreciated.

Commercial appeal conducted this survey by partnering with top companies and top 50 employers of the Memphis to identify the workplace dynamics in the region.

Personal connection among employees
When asked about necessities to become the top employer, James Dowd said that commitment towards the team is the main reason behind the growth of a company apart from establishing personal connection among the employees, as per the CEOs of the major companies.
Dowd revealed that, from the comments of the employees, an important reason for employees’ satisfaction and retention is the transparency and open communication from the top level to the last employee of the company.

Fraudulent job e-mails
The next guest Nancy Crawford provided some important and useful information about job search and job scamming activities that exist in the World Wide Web.
Crawford warned job searchers not to fall prey to fraudulent e-mails and not to click the links sent in spam e-mails. She said that these mails which usually ask users to update their resumes, by clicking on certain links, are frequently fraudulent and the users should always update their resumes by logging into their account on the authenticated Website.
